An experienced teacher, performer, composer and arranger. Paul is a talented multi faceted musician with 40 years experience as a professional musician and brass teacher. As well as trumpet Paul is also a keen guitarist.
Paul was Head of Brass at the independent specialist music school Wells Cathedral School for 34 years and for the final 4 years at Wells he was also Head of Student Performance.
Paul has built up an extensive catalogue of original works, commissions and arrangements for brass, woodwind and percussion including four full length musicals. Works have been performed all over Europe by professional ensembles and music conservatoires
Paul Denegri has a keen interest and passion as an adjudicator at music festivals, school music competitions, school house singing competitions.. His list of appearances at the adjudicators table are many and include:
Royal Academy of Music London Junior Department and Trinity Laban College.
For over 30 years Paul was the weekly conductor and artistic advisor for the Symphony Orchestra at Wells Cathedral School . As well as conducting performances Paul also prepared the orchestra for guest conductors including Jac van Steen, Christopher Adey, Ben Glassberg, Peter Harrison among others.
For many years Paul was Principal Conductor of The School’s Philharmonic Orchestra. He also appeared as guest conductor for The Sani International Youth Orchestra based in Greece.
More recently Paul has become the musical director of Wells City Band and Phoenix Brass Band of Crewkerne. Paul has also taken the musical director post on many youth music theatre productions as well as performing himself on many music theatre shows in the South West. Paul also performs with the Dorset based function band DT8.
Paul enjoys giving his time by volunteering in local care homes, he is passionate about bringing music to the bedsides and to groups who many never get to hear live music and is a leading fundraiser for a new charity called " I SEE YOU' which is raising money for the elderly in care who come into the care system with nothing.
